I bought one because I don’t smoke and I figured that space where the ashtray goes would be better suited for storage. It makes the most use of the open space that’s there. It has a little hole in the side for lathe car’s LED light to shine through. At first I thought that’d be a bad thing for stuff to fall though, but when I thought about it; what stuff could someone possibly have that’s small enough to fit through that hole? I don’t have anything that small. That tray is perfect for storing cords or money. I’m glad I bought it.
Reading this review made me realize only BMW nerds like us will care about weather the ashtray space is utilize or not we designed it to let the OEM light thru so it illuminates the object within the box! A really nice touch imo!

Close to what the oem version would look like without the cigarette holder. But very clean and smooth instead. Great product, great price. For this it’s hardly visible that it was printed.
